| Three Generations House | A new three-story apartment for the relocation of the extended family to Central Harlem symbolizes the neighborhood’s hopeful revival. The family’s desire to take part in the reinvention and modernization of the neighborhood is reflected in the “future-looking” design of the building. The use of metal hopper windows and framing, concrete plank floors, and masonry bearing walls expresses this vision. Each generation of the family has its own private unit that caters to its individual needs with access to communal outdoor spaces such as the courtyard, roof gardens, and backyard barbeque. |
