| Marcus Garvey Houses Community Center | Located in the heart of an existing 1970’s Housing Authority project in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, this new community center creates a series of small, protected landscapes for children and adults to engage in daily activities. Teens can play at the basketball court, while young children are in the play-park and seniors sit out in the open courtyards. The bulletproof glass that encases the expansive structure acknowledges the realities of the troubled neighborhood yet also creates an inviting and unobstructed view of the inner courtyard that encourages participation. |
